"United we Fish" is marching on the Capitol building in Washington DC. It's to promote legislation to curb the restrictions previously mandated by the MAGNUSON/STEVENS Act. The amendment to this bill is called the FLEXIBILITY IN REBUILDING AMERICAN FISHERIES ACT of 2009! Your support is greatly needed. I know DC is a long way, and you think , "what can one person do?", but if as many of us as possible make it there, the show of support will send a strong message to our elected officials. You can also contact your state officials to make sure they agree with you and are watching what's going on.
We're working hard on the boats, trying to make sure when they go in the water this year, they'll be ready for some of that hot Cod action down off the south coast of NE next winter. Although Capt Phil says on these last couple of days of gillnetting the Haddock are stacked up on Jefferies like he's never seen before, sometimes catching over 1000 pounds in gear that is really too big except to catch the monster ones. I guess we'll see what happens.
