After the Storm
We were fortunate with very minor damage here at the docks. A couple of fences, a sign, and a few roof shingles blown down. Phones & internet were down yesterday due to power outage, but again, we are one the lucky ones to have power restored late yesterday afternoon.
Winds of 90 mph were reported at the Isle of Shoals and a sustained blow here at the beach for over an hour around 68 mph. The ocean was an incredible sight at Hampton Beach of huge white water waves almost as far as you could see, crashing on the beach up to the seawall and occasionally over. Seafoam floating through the air like snow & being pushed up onto the sidewalks with the force of the waves. So much wind damage to buildings; windows, roofs & signs. The devastating fire that took out a whole block at Hampton Beach was heartbreaking to see. No lives were lost, which goes without saying, a good thing; but still, so much was lost by many.
I've had several calls from people asking how things are here. All I can say is we count our blessings and are thankful; and we thank you for caring.
Liz
